Motocross is becoming increasingly popular every year, with more and more people from around the world choosing to take part in this exciting sport. However, many new motocross learners get stuck at the first hurdle and simply do not know where to begin. Don’t worry, read on and I will explain exactly how you can get started learning motocross.

Before you begin learning motocross you must first make sure that it is definitely something that you want to to do. Motocross is a high energy sport and can at times be dangerous, so if you are not fit and healthy then it might not be for you. You should also visit plenty of motocross events so you can soak up the atmosphere and get a good feel of what this sport is all about.

Now that you know that motocross is the sport for you, it’s time to get kitted up. The very first piece of motocross equipment you will need is of course your motorbike. As a beginner it’s best not to choose an overly expensive bike at first, as you can always upgrade to a more expensive model as you progress. Safety equipment like a good helmet, goggles, gloves and sturdy boots are a must when learning motocross, as you will probably find yourself getting knocked around quite a bit. You will also need appropriate clothing like a jersey and riding pants.

The next thing you should do now that you are kitted out it is to actually get out there and start doing some riding. First you need to find out where your local motocross club is located. The easiest way to do this is by looking in your local telephone book or online by typing into Google “your area motocross clubs”. Once you have found your nearest motocross club, go and visit them and find out which days they hold their practice sessions.

Now that you know how to get started learning motocross, the only thing left for you to do now is practice, practice, practice.
